1. New Operator Forklift Training

Wayco's New Operator Forklift Training program is specifically designed for the beginner or novice operators. It includes both in-class instruction and hands-on training where you can practice operating an actual forklift. Your knowledge and performance will be evaluated and upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued your certification which Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires all forklift operators to have.

The OHSA requires that every forklift operator should renew their certification every 3 years. Our Propane Cylinder Exchange training program is designed for those people who are operating or working with industrial propane-powered forklifts. Propane is a form of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and it can be dangerous if not handled properly. Our course will train you on the safe handling, exchange, and filling procedures of a propane cylinder. Our course meets all relevant government and industry standards and all trainers have been certified.

5. Fall Arrest Training

Wayco's Fall Arrest training program is designed for any person working at elevations to comply with the provincial law requirements to be trained in fall protection safety. Our course will provide you with an understanding of your responsibilities when working in areas where fall hazards exist, the use and inspection of the required equipment, and the critical controls necessary to reduce the risk of a fall.

6. Pedestrian Awareness Training

Wayco's Pedestrian training program will cover the basic hazards related to forklifts and the rules that should be followed to ensure the safety of any pedestrian in close proximity to a lifting device. This course is designed to help you and those who work around you to reduce the risk of pedestrian-related accidents and to save lives.

• Basic hazards of working with and around forklifts
• Rules to follow for the safety of pedestrians

Pedestrian awareness training reduces the risk of accidents involving pedestrians in the workplace

 

7. Battery Training Program

Our Battery Training program combines both hands-on practical training as well as theoretical training. You will learn all about batteries including how to maintain, transfer, charge, and water them as well as safety protocols related to battery use. The "Battery & Charger Training Program has been introduced to many warehouse and manufacturing facilities all across Ontario, resulting in lower rates of injuries to employees and damage to equipment. Each participant will take a theoretical test and upon completi0n receive a certificate.

Who Is It For? Anyone working with battery powered forklifts or lifting devices

What Topics Will Be Covered?

• Introduction to the battery
• Daily maintenance practices
• Battery transfer procedures
• Battery charging and equalizing charge
• Battery watering
• Using a hydrometer
• Emergency procedure in case of an acid spill
• Malfunctioning battery

 

A battery training program will teach you how to maintain, transfer, charge, and water batteries

 

8. Lockout/Tagout Training

Wayco's Lockout/Tagout training program will teach you about this safe work practice that ensures that dangerous machines and energy sources are properly shut off and not unexpectedly started up before the completion of maintenance or servicing work. The course covers a range of topics, including the basic procedures for lockout and tagout, and information about the responsibilities of manufacturers, employers, supervisors, and employees regarding hazardous energy control. We recommend that you renew your training every 3 years

Who Is It for? All authorized employees who service or maintain equipment, as well as equipment operators and any other affected employees who work in the area where lockout/tagout is being performed as required by the OHSA. Additionally, temporary personnel, as well as outside service and contractor personnel, must also be trained in hazardous energy control.

What Topics Will Be Covered?

• Shutting down, isolating, blocking, & securing the machine
• Safely placing, removing, & transferring of lockout/tagout devices
• Testing the machine & verifying energy is locked out
• Identifying the responsible person for lockout/tagout

9. WHMIS

The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a Canada-wide system designed to give employers and workers information about hazardous materials used in the workplace. Under WHMIS, there are three ways in which information on hazardous materials is to be provided: labels on the containers of hazardous materials, material safety data sheets to supplement the label with detailed hazard and precautionary information, and worker education programs.
